WELCOME TO CALIFORNIA STATE RAMBLERS

Bob and Diane LundinThe California State Branch of the Holiday Rambler Recreational Vehicle Club consists of eight chapters. The three chapters in Northern California include:

Diablo Ramblers based in the Concord /North Bay area, Gold Country Ramblers based in the Sacramento/Grass Valley area Mission Ramblers based in the San Jose/South Bay area

There are five chapters in Southern California which include:

Adventures West Ramblers, Just for Fun Ramblers, Old Baldy Ramblers, San Diego Ramblers, West Coast Ramblers.

Some of the Southern California Chapters are based on geographical areas such as San Diego and Old Baldy while others chapters are based on activities like Just for Fun and Adventures West.

Most chapters have monthly outings planned throughout the year, and Northern and Southern California each have a "multi-chapter" outing in their respective parts of the state, all culminating in the California State Rally in October of each year. The location of the California State Rally is generally rotated from year to year, sometimes in the north, sometimes in the south, with central California locations being advantageous to both groups. The 2002 California State Rally was held in Palm Desert (Southern California), the 2003 Rally being in Hanford (Central California) and the 2004 in Yuba City (Northern California). The California State Manager and his/her Assistant State Managers are ultimately responsible for choosing the locations and, along with representatives from each chapter, plan the activities at a California State Council Meeting held each spring.

The California State Rally generally lasts 4 nights with early parking adding on extra days for those who wish to come early. Activities begin on day 1 with opening ceremonies. After that the schedule varies, but generally includes an early morning walk for those exercise enthusiasts; morning hospitality or breakfasts; local tours; seminars; indoor and outdoor games, some just for fun, others are competitions; craft classes; book and video exchanges; silent and brown bag auctions with the proceeds going to the "Make-A-Wish" Foundation; bingo; dinners and entertainment on selected evenings; a bazaar, cake spin, and ice cream social all coming to a climax on Saturday evening with dinner and closing ceremonies. There are so many activities, that sometimes you may have to pick and choose among those offered. There's omething for everyone and your option may be to just sit back and relax or go sight seeing on your own. Whatever you wish - it's probably there for your enjoyment.

Many members volunteer either individually or as a chapter to assist with parking the rigs as they arrive, helping with registration, security, and assisting with any and all activities, meals or other work that needs to be done. Volunteering is a great way to meet new people and enjoy getting together to work with old friends.

The multi-chapter rallies in the North and South are generally scaled down versions of the State rally.

Sunday morning is usually a farewell hospitality hour and then we all depart taking with us many happy memories as plans for the next rally begin. We invite you to attend a rally and experience this pleasant rewarding experience for yourselves.
